Dopamine is the main chemical released when an individual subjects themselves to a stimuli and it mode of action is on the pleasure centers of your mind to give a sense of satisfaction or fulfillment. Continued use of the substance prompts increase in the dosage as small amounts have no significant effect in your body. Once you become a heavy user, the number of intoxications in your body become too high and this leads to different diseases such as lung cancer, liver-related diseases, kidney failure, heart-related conditions which later lead to death.
The loss of control and judgement over situations is the second impact that comes with addiction. Ones a person engages in heavy use of a chemical stimuli, it affects their mental health and they cannot control their lives and make wise judgements on situation regardless of being under the influence of the substance. The involuntary ability of your mind to function is lost when you are involved in substance abuse as your brain is damaged and affecting your sanity and for this reason an addict is unable to identify and make judgement on risks that threaten their life health and safety. It may be possible to identify that you have an addiction problem but the inability to take control of your life simply shows that someone else needs to intervene. In such a scenario, psychological and a detox program is administered to get your life back on track.
Extreme addicts find no more pleasure even when they take a stimuli they are conditioned to. Regardless of an addict gaining pleasure from a stimuli or not, they still continue doing what got them into addiction. Serial killers, prostitutes, speed, drugs and alcohol junkies and gamblers start living addiction ad this becomes a new normal to them. Depression and anxiety are the major psychological disorders associated with such individuals and no help can be administered to them and they end up behind bars serving multiple life sentences from crimes they commit or dead from suicide or police takedowns.
In conclusion, it is highly recommended that you check if your family tree for addicts and how their genetics relate to yours. You will know if your lineage has genetic elements of addiction which will be of guide to you in avoiding addictive stimuli.
